Tom Perry, M.Sc. - Geotechnical Assistant

Tom joined Sitkum as a Geotechnical Assistant in 2025. He holds a Master’s degree in Structural Geology with Geophysics from the University of Leeds, U.K. and recently completed an Advanced Diploma in GIS at Selkirk College, B.C. While at Selkirk College, Tom worked on projects training machine learning models for tree species identification in the West Kootenays using aerial imagery and LiDAR data. At Sitkum, Tom supports geotechnical assessments, road design, and mapping. He pilots the company’s DJI Matrice 4E drone for aerial surveys, photogrammetry and volumetric analysis.

Prior to joining Sitkum, Tom worked as a Geophysicist in the U.K. resource exploration sector, interpreting seismic data to construct 3D models of the subsurface. He has gained experience as a field scientist and drone pilot, leading a team collecting LiDAR data for carbon stock estimations in tropical forests across Africa and Central America.
